- "Didn't" is a funny word. Especially if it shows up too many times in one sentence, i.e. "I didn't realize you didn't know that she didn't come in this morning." Stare at the didn'ts. They're hypnotic.
- Fireworks are very pretty, but they can have a tendency to go on too long, especially when you've drunk a lot of water and the only restroom in sight is a bug-infested public outhouse.
- I still love my job. It can get a little harry at times, but the harried days are well dispersed around days where my whole "job" is just to sit around waiting to be needed. I hope today is one of those latter days.
- Somebody please send N. Korea a copy of The Day After.
- Have I mentioned that I liked Superman Returns? Well, I did. I still plan to talk about it at length. Of course if you've seen it and you know my Lois & Clark fan-ness and my 'shipper proclivities, you can probably guess most of what I have to say.
- For the writers amongst my visitors, The Desk Drawer is a weekly writing workshop that posts regular writing exercises. I've only skimmed the front page, but it looks promising. I might use some of my "waiting to be needed" time to participate and keep my writing muscles flexed whilst I'm on my break.
- Speaking of exercises, oy vey but it's only two months till my wedding and the scales (and my pants size) are creeping in the wrong direction. Matt and I have vowed to each other to knock it off with the junk food binging and to start hitting the gym together. We haven't quite figured out how that's going to work with our disparate work schedules, but we're working on it.
- Matt, by the by, despite his increased potato chip habit, has lost a lot of poundage, and I gotta say, he looks gooood. Not that I didn't find him perfectly dashing before, but in the last few months he's melted and toned himself into quite the hottie. Hot enough to bring out a lot of insecurity on my part, in fact, but it's a motivating sort of insecurity. I've gotta do my best to keep up.
- We've also agreed to start going to church again this Sunday. Knowing our procrastination tendencies, that probably means we'll go back sometime this month. But at least we've picked a local church to start visiting, so that's progress.
- Finally, because 10 is a nice round number for random things, a request: I don't have the time I'd hoped for to pore through my poetry books looking for reading selections for my wedding. We still haven't decided whether we want a poetry reading, or a scripture reading, or both, or even if the Inn will allow us time for either, but when decision-time comes I want to be ready. So, any suggestions? What's your favorite romantic poem? Feel free to post the entire poem if you have access to it; I'm in a poetry reading mood today.

My favorite romantic poem:
How Do I Love Thee
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, - I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! - and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning 1806-1861

P. S. Unusual is an odd word to look at. Too many "u"s.

I'll look into the poetry and get back with you. Thanks for the writing link--lots of good ideas and prompts.
Whoo, church! I've decided I'm going to attend at least two services a week, if not all three. (We usually skip the evening services, because of the Monkeys. But that's a lot of missed church!) Here's hoping we both don't procrastinate too much. :)
bojojoti - I used to love that EBB poem, but I forgot all about it. I haven't read it in years. It's definitely a classic, and it sums up a lot of what I want to say to Matt. Thanks!
Sunny - hey, chica! I figured if anybody could offer up poetry suggestions, you could. And yeah, woo church! As you can see, we do good to show up at all, let alone attend every service. We'll work on going regularly on Sundays for a while, then maybe we'll work up to adding Wednesdays.
Hey, if I get a blogger, will I receive email notifications that you replied to a comment? Because I don't want to miss anything. :)
I don't think so. I think the original blog owner is the only one who receives comment notifications. That's one way LJ's got it going on over Blogger, but then I'm too simple to be able to keep up with threaded conversations so this works for me.
