He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children. —Psalm 113:9

Move over, Aqua

It's an ad... but it's a fun one.

"Punjabi Girl" - This is a HIGH-larious Bollywood parody of Aqua's classic cheesy yet irritatingly catchy "Barbie Girl." Be careful if you play it—it has a way of sticking in your head all day like the original.

I found this at AapkaVideo - Indian Videos, the East Indian version of YouTube. There's a lot of good stuff on there—I also came across a couple of clips from Big Brother: India, and an awesome Nike ad that managed to make even this sports apatheticist feel some enthusiasm about Cricket for a minute there. I credit the elephant.

"Punjabi Girl" is from a VERY funny British comedy series called "Goodness Gracious Me" that ran for three years on television and a few years before that on the radio... and I believe they had a touring stage show, as well.

It was done by the same folks who are now doing "The Kumars at Number 42" -- and the woman singing is Meera Syal... who wrote the book Bombay Dreams which was the basis for the Broadway & London musical by the same name.

I've only seen commercials for The Kumars. It looks pretty funny, but it's one of those things that I never remember to catch it when it's on. I haven't heard of that musical, but I might have to check out the book. Thanks for the info!
