There's been a lot of plague going around these parts lately. I've managed to avoid it so far here at the office, but then my cousin went and brought it home the other day. I'm usually pretty good at avoiding her, too, and she was either considerate or, more likely, rendered immobile enough to stay holed up in her room at the back of the house during the worst of it, so I wasn't too concerned about catching it from her.
At my luncheon meeting today, the boss was complaining that he felt he might be coming down with something, which got the entire room to discussing the crud that's been going around. Now, I can be pretty susceptible to the power of suggestion where contagious illnesses are concerned. So maybe that's why, halfway through the meeting, my head started to feel heavy, and by the end I felt run down and had started to cough. That doesn't explain why my stomach started acting up right BEFORE the meeting, but that could be a coincidence, right? So this is all in my head, right? I'm not sick. RIGHT?
Bleah. I really do hope I'm imagining this. We just finished paying off the medical bills from the last time I got sick and passed my crud to Matt. And I just started to shake off my winter ennui and feel normal again. I've got stuff to do! I can't be sick.
So I took some Airborne, and some Advil Cold & Sinus, and my Claritin, just in case this is an allergy thing, and I've got Cold-Eze lozenges lined up on my desk to start sucking on after I finish my Diet Coke (because they have a way of numbing my taste buds). If it is all in my head, this should all have enough of a placebo effect to snap me out of it. If, Lord help me, it's for real, then maybe at least this will keep it from getting too bad.
