Okay, now this is useful. Boostscores.com is a free credit repair site. It's not a service so much as a web-based application to help you organize and keep track of your own efforts to repair your credit and raise your credit scores. It's still in the beta phase, and currently consists mainly of letter templates and generators to help you produce letters to credit bureaus and collection agencies, as well as cease and desist letters to use if you're being harassed by your creditors. In the works are a custom letter editor, a dispute tracker, and an online To Do list to help you stay organized and on track. And it's entirely free, developed by a guy who didn't want to pay a credit repair service to fix his credit and came up with these applications for use in his own fight. Now he's passing it on.
This is a fantastic idea, and has the potential to become a popular tool. I have only one caveat, which is that I would err on the side of caution and wait until the site is a little more established and there's been a chance to track some feedback before using any of the applications that require entering my social security or credit card numbers. A note on the wizard interface says that the information is only for the letter and is never stored, but, well, you just can't be too careful about that stuff these days. It might be safer to generate the letters without that info and then fill in the blanks by hand. Otherwise, if you're on the road to repairing your credit, I would definitely give this a try before going through a repair service.
