I spent my allotted novel-writing time this morning working out the next chapter, since the turn the last chapter took kind of screwed up that part of my outline. I think I know what needs to happen in it now, but I need to let it stew a bit longer before I commit to it.
I'm ten chapters in now on the total rewrite. As progress goes, that's not too shabby.
Part of what's slowing me down today is that I finally got around to reading the new Buffy: Season 8 comic, thoughts on which I'll elaborate in the comment thread a bit later, and now my head is full of fic bunnies. Kill them! Kill the bunnies! No fanfic! Die!
*ahem*
As for the rest of my day, I really need to concentrate on my actual job. I've been slacking off on anything job-related that doesn't require immediate attention, and things are noticeably piling up, so it's time to roll up my sleeves and get back on top of it all. I need to find some good podcasts to get me through the mindlessness of logging my files. Anybody got any recs?

Kill the bunnies?! No! Those poor little bunnies...with no home. *whimpers for the bunnies*
I, being a firm bunnie advocate, hereby state that you must, under no circumstances, kill the bunnies.
*stern look in Jean's direction*
Now, what else were you saying?? I was distracted by the shiny bunnies. ;)
They're still hippity-hopping all about my noggin, but I'm refusing to indulge them.
Now to the squeeful fangirl ramblings....
B:S8 #2 spoiler alert!!!!
OMG please let that be Spike. If that turns out to be Angel, I shall most certainly cry (albeit not as much as the Duck who wrote in to beg that Spike never even show up in this comic will probably cry if it IS Spike (which is to say nothing of the Kitten who wrote in to THREATEN Joss if he doesn't bring back Tara o_O)). But even Matt, B/A 'shipper that he is, thought that it looked like Spike. *hopehopehopehopehope*
There are SO MANY fanficcy things I could do with the new information we're getting in this comic, and the restraint is torture. But I'm not going to give in. Because I'm 34 years old and I have a real writing career to get off the ground and it's pretty much now or never, that's why.
Other thoughts:
Giles! Yay!
Andrew! Yay, and HEE!
Giant Dawn: HA!
Willow! Whee!
Why, exactly, does Amy suddenly hate Buffy so much? All of her ire on the show was directed at Willow. Why she want to hurt the Buffster? I hope she explains herself.
I wasn't fooled by the Bander mackage for a second. As soon as she came on to him, I thought, "He's dreamin'." Turns out SHE was dreamin', but still. Though I'm sorry for the B/X 'shippers who were all "OMG FINALLY YES!" only to have their dream float away with Xander's head.
Okay, I'm done.
If it isn't Spike, I may be physically ill...though I would still hold onto the fact that she's supposed to be in a nightmare and that if it's Angel, it's all just part of the nightmare aspect.
That's how I justify Buffy even dreaming about kissing Xander- nightmare. And how I justify her indicating that their might have been another time where they did do the wild monkey dance...shudder (I am only allowing that they might have had one round of drunken, consolation sex after crying over Spike and Anya, and immediately regretted it the next day...that is as far as I go).
And Xander chilling out while giant naked Dawn bathes? Um, ew.
As for Amy's Buffy hate, she might just hate her by association because of Willow (go after Buffy, get another chance at Willow), or because she got stuck in the hellmouth crater, or because she's crazy, or because I think her "boyfriend" is a uber-vamp that survived.
But yes, comic good that it continues the story. Comic bad in that we have to wait a month. And did you think that the "kiss of true love" thing is a little trite, especially for issue 2? We could be taking Buffy out of the picture for awhile...
I'm not going to feel that great if it turns out to be Angel, either. I'm still so invested in this stuff that it *hurts* me to think Buffy doesn't really love Spike. Which is a bit silly, I know, but there you have it.
Heh, I wanked that it was a nightmare for Buffy to come on to Xander, too.
Re: Giant Dawn bathing -- Xander had his back turned. It was a little weird, but not pervy. Besides, she's legal now (albeit barely), and I was wondering if the Slayers on the roof were gossiping about Dawn (not Buffy!) being in love with Xander.
Other thoughts I had were that Giles felt a teensy bit off, although we didn't really get enough of him to judge (plus he felt "off" the entire last season, so maybe it's just continuing the trend); also, I'm so glad they gave Andrew a haircut.
