Fresh from the Season 3 Veronica Mars DVDs comes footage of the sorta-pilot for Rob Thomas's planned re-vamp of the show that would have fast-forwarded Veronica several years into her future working for the FBI. I haven't watched it yet, but word is that the new premise could have been awesome.

It really could have been awesome. The acting in the pilot was of a high standard, the new faces were excellent and the action was totally ramped up.
There was also a sample credits on YouTube - I don't know if it was part of the "official" sample, but it included Ben Mackenzie, which would have rocked my world in terms of hot boy prettiness.
I was disappointed that they cancelled the show too!
