Hello, Internets. Here I am, in case you were wondering. This latest hiatus was completely unintentional. I was just starting to settle into a routine when life decided that that just wouldn't do, and things got a bit overwhelming for a little while. Aside from the ever constant job hunt, and homework for my copy editing class, I've also been bogged down in paperwork and phone calls and bureaucracy, applying for and filing claims for any type of assistance for which we might be eligible, trying to Fight the Man and get money back from businesses that have screwed us over, and all that fun stuff. Oh yes, and trying to renew my driver's license, which took three weeks. Yes, really.
If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook then you already know all about my driver's license drama, but here's the condensed version: in early February I realized that my license had expired at the end of December. Of course I went to renew it immediately, but the state required my birth certificate. I had no idea where mine was since we'd moved, so, wacky me, I thought it'd be easier to just get a new copy. Except I couldn't do that without a valid driver's license. Apparently, as far as the Oklahoma goverment's concerned, you cease to be the person in the picture on your ID as soon as the date expires. So I got my mom to drive to town to get a copy for me (my husband probably could've done it, but I figured the most sure-fire way to cut through the red tape would be to have the only other person who was actually there obtain it). Problem solved! Except that then the State's driver's license renewal system crashed and stayed down for an entire week. Except for right before I would call to check, when it would come back up just long enough for me to think it was worth my while to get dressed and go to the tag agency, only to find out it went down again right after I called. Good times!
So there was that. But that's over now, and I'm a legal driver again, and a real person again according to the state. Hooray! And a good thing for them, because I was seriously beginning to think I was going to have to cut a bitch to get my license renewed.
I also went on some interviews, and they seemed to go really well, and I panicked at the thought of running out of time to organize my house before I had to go to work again, and set about spending most of my free time getting that done. Well, mostly done. Since the interviewers never called me back, the panic has ebbed, and so has my motivation. But my house is much more organized than it was the last time I posted here.
And I've been writing! And practicing my bass guitar! And knitting, natch. I'm working on a version of this baby blanket for my beautiful new grandnephew Jackson. Oh, yes, and I've been visiting the baby, and trying to distract myself from the ache in my ovaries.
Things are getting back to normal now, and I'm trying to establish a routine again. It's not going so well so far, but it's early yet, and getting back into a steady blogging routine is high on my To Do list, so you should be seeing a lot more of me here from now on.

I'm glad you legally exist again.
Couldn't your blog be proof of existence? Ha! Last time I needed to renew in person I just needed a utility bill or something with my name on it. But that was probably pre-Patriot Act world. Welcome back - funny how much stuff there is to take up all the time in our lives.
@bojojoti - *waves back* Hi! Me too!
@TheBumbles - I thought I had all kinds of things to prove my existence, but the state government is very specific (read: dense). Oh well. I'm just glad things are getting back to normal.
Hurray! I was worried that even more of my friends were imaginary.
Silly aching ovaries...they haven't been talking to mine, have they? Mine are a bad influence.
