I maintain my previous comment: you look slimmer in tops like these than in the ones that gather below the bustline. I think it's because with the latter types, everything below the bust flares out and becomes "hips" whether deservedly so or not.
Not a fan of the empire waist, check. Although it is awfully good for hiding the ol' muffin top. Which is why almost all of my "dressy" tops are that style, so I'm afraid we're both stuck with them until I either lose a couple of dress sizes or make enough money to buy new clothes.
Of course, this week I had cause to put on a dressy top more often than usually happens (i.e., not at all), so it'll likely be tee-shirts for a good long while.
Sweetie, you don't need to defend your wardrobe. I'm just saying that you have nicer curves than you give yourself credit for. Stop trying to hide your imperfections because you're hiding some good stuff, too. ;)
