I has a cheezburger kinda day

I'm having a day, people. The kind that's filled with bad news -- nothing devastating, just disappointing enough to ruin your day -- and where things that should be simple are riddled with complications. It's the kind of day that makes you want to throw up your hands in surrender and just go watch TV or hide in bed so nothing else can go wrong. But since I don't have that luxury, I did what I always do when I need some emergency cheering up -- I headed over to I Can Has Cheezburger and kept scrolling until smiling came easily for me again.

In the off chance that you're having that kind of day, too (I sincerely hope you're not), here are a few highlights from my visit. Because things are beyond bad if anthropomorphized kittens with bad grammar can't cheer you up.

Too true.

Kittens in boxes never fail to be hilarious.

I did not know that "Om nom nom" was a real thing that cats could say. Go fig.

Are you cheered up yet? I hope so. I know I sure am.

Happy Birthday, Tess!

nom nom nom / nooo it are my birthday Happy birthday to Tess,
Happy birthday to Tess!
Happy birthday dear Tessy,
Happy birthday to Tess!

I bet when that weird kid came up to you on the playground in 4th grade and gave you a Fashion Plate Shrinky Dink she made for you because she found out your birthday was one day after hers, you never thought she'd still be harassing you twenty-five years later.

Holy crap, we've been friends nearly a quarter of a century. o_O

Anyway. Happy birthday to my partner in birthdays and in perpetual immaturity. I hope nobody takes away your birthday cake.

O HAI. I HAS A WURK.

Apologies for the slow turn the blog has taken lately. Work is busy (not in the "OMG everybody needs me NOW how'mIgonnadothis" kind of way, but in the actually having time to clear some of the neglected piles of non-urgent stuff off of my desk and out of my inbox way--it's nice), and the novel's going great--which, if it's going at all, that's pretty great right there--and between the two, I have very little time or mental energy left for blogging. Don't worry, I'm sure it won't last.

On a completely unrelated and random note: I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER? is a great tool for whenever you need to scrub out a disturbing mental image. "Oh my Lord that's disgust--oh, lolkitties! Ha ha!"

Speaking of meditating on not-impure things (oh, come on. What's more good and pure than fluffy kitties?), any Christians in my modest little readership might enjoy reading Internet Monk, a Christian School teacher who's got some thoughtful, thought-provoking, and downright soul-convicting things to say about the state of post-modern evangelicalism. His entire blog's a good read. And he's got a podcast, too!

KAE BAI!
