Slowly but surely, I'm clawing my way back to the land of the living. Well, that's a little dramatic. It's not like I was at Death's door or anything. But I was a lot sicker than I thought in my last post, and I've been pretty out of it for the last several days, running a constant low-grade fever and unable to even sit up for very long without being propped up by pillows. I finally started to feel better yesterday, and got so excited at being able to stay upright for more than a few minutes at a time without wanting to keel over that OF COURSE I overdid it in my eagerness to stretch my limbs and get as far away from my bed as possible. Feeling like a total slob after days of lying around in my own stink, I bathed, put on makeup, and yes, even shaved my legs, all just to go run some badly needed errands around town. Unfortunately, the effort of all of that grooming wiped me out, so I felt miserable the entire time I was out, and when I got home I went straight back to bed and crashed.
Two doses of Nyquil and a long sleep later, I'm feeling well enough to shun my bed and get some work done, although I learned my lesson from yesterday and am being careful not to overdo it. Still, I'm on the road to recovery. I'm trying to focus on that and be grateful instead of panicking over the mountains of work I need to catch up on. It's really amazing how, despite not having a real job, being out of commission for four days can leave such a huge backlog of stuff to get done. It's one of life's tragedies that none of this stuff will help pay for my house. Oh well.
Once I'm caught up, remind me to tell y'all about the herd of fugitive puppies that keeps invading my back yard. OMGCUTE!

Glad you are feeling better. Sadly, at our house, The Heir has the flu. He's been running a fever (sometimes as high as 103)all week. It is worrisome.
Nyquil is my best friend - and more effective with a chaser of beer or wine. But we have learned that you should not mix your meds with drinks :0)
This was the week of spring break when I wouldn't have any papers to write or classroom material to read. I was going to garden. Instead, I've spent the week curled up on the sofa blowing my nose and moaning occasionally.
Today is spring, and I officially declare colds, flu, and odd viruses defunct and outlawed.
@manoah - Poor Heir! That sucks. I hope he gets better soon. :(
@The Bumbles - Hee, yes. No more mixing drinks with sleepy-making meds for me.
@Bojo - I feel your pain. I had all kinds of plans for this week that went out the window thanks to this bug. The enforced rest was kinda nice for the first couple days, but after that it got pretty old and frustrating.
I second your declaration!
